The School Essentials Drive tackles one of the most visible signs of poverty in our community by providing children in need with new athletic shoes, ensuring they start the school year with confidence, dignity, and joy. Equipped with proper footwear, these children are better prepared to learn, play, and thrive.
Here's how you can directly impact their lives:
Sponsor one child or multiple children! Donate with confidence knowing that 100% of your contribution goes directly toward our mission.
- Sponsor a child: You can enable children to put their best foot forward into the school year by sponsoring one, two, or more kids! Your tax-deductible donation of $35.00 will supply one child with a pair of name brand shoes such as Adidas, Nike, Puma, Fila, Champion, etc. and a pair of socks.
- Drop off NEW socks: Drop off NEW socks at any Northwest Federal Credit Union branch or at the Foundation during the months of July and August. The Foundation is located at 220 Spring Street, Suite 120, Herndon, VA. All socks must be in the original packaging or have tags.
How does the shoe distribution work? Our partner will ensure proper measurements for each child. Respectfully, we cannot accept random new shoe donations. This ensures quality and consistency in the experience provided to the recipients.
Why footwear? Your gift of shoes goes beyond footwear. This project is about instilling the confidence children need to step forward into a brighter future. We believe that a new pair of shoes can be a life-changing event. Educators have reported significant improvements after children received their new shoes:
