Ben DeFelice Scholarship
The Ben DeFelice Scholarship was established in 2005 to pay tribute to Mr. DeFelice, NWFCU’s longest running Chairman of the Board (31 years) and nine-year veteran of the Board of NWFCU’s subsidiary, Northwest Financial LLC. A dedicated leader and visionary, Mr. DeFelice played a pivotal role in the development and success of NWFCU. Since 2005 Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation has recognized 86 scholarship recipients with awards totaling $354,000.

- Melanie Barlow of Annandale, Virginia is a 2011 graduate of W.T. Woodson High School and will be attending Tulane University.
- Nicole Ciehoski of Potomac Falls, Virginia is a 2011 graduate of Potomac Falls High School and will be attending James Madison University.
- Katherine Crandell of Leesburg, Virginia is a 2008 graduate of Heritage High School and attends James Madison University.
- Everett Criswell of Royersford, Pennsylvania is a 2009 graduate of Spring-Ford High School and attends Pennsylvania State University.
- Stephanie Davis of Leesburg, Virginia is a 2011 graduate of Paul VI Catholic High School and will be attending the College of William and Mary.
- Beverly Dobrenz of Vienna, Virginia is a 2011 graduate of James Madison High School and will be attending the University of Virginia.
- Alisha Geldert of Fairfax, Virginia is a 2011 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology and will be attending the University of Virginia.
- Maria Hayden of Herndon, Virginia is a 2010 graduate of Herndon High School and attends James Madison University.
- Karen Johnson of Centreville, Virginia is a 2011 graduate of Centreville High School and will be attending the University of Virginia.
