Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run
Northwest Federal Credit Union is a proud charter sponsor of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run; a premier road race held in the nation’s capital each April with funds benefiting Children’s Miracle Network. More than 100 credit unions across the country have come together to brand this high-profile event with the credit union name, and more than $1.53 million has been raised since 2002 for the benefit of CMN and its 170 affiliated Children’s Hospitals nationwide.
NWFCU holds fundraising events throughout the year, every year, with proceeds directed to CMN. But supporting this great cause goes further than cash contributions: the credit union sponsors employee running teams and sends more than 50 volunteers to the Sunday morning event to ‘marshal a mile’ along the Memorial Bridge in Washington, D.C.
Be a Hero to More than 17 Million Children in Need – 4 Easy Ways You Can Help
1. Support Children’s Miracle Network
It takes more than $2.5 billion in charitable care for CMN to provide assistance to the more than 17 million children treated annually at the nation’s 170 Children’s Hospitals. No child is ever turned away. If you’d like to help, make a tax-deductible donation to the Children’s Miracle Network. Your donation will go directly to the Children’s Hospital serving your area, based upon your home zip code. To make a donation, contact Executive Director, Linda Rogus, at lrogus@nwfcufoundation.org or call 703-709-8900, ext. 6410 (1-800-336-3384 toll-free).
2. Purchase Miracle Merchandise in Any Branch
At special times throughout the year, NWFCU branches will have ‘miracle merchandise’ available for sale. From backpacks to coin safes, plush stuffed animals to donor cards, NWFCU brings an array of items to our teller lanes for your consideration. All items make great gifts for kids or grandkids, and all proceeds are directed back to CMN.
3. Volunteer On Race Day
It takes more than 1,000 volunteeers to orchestrate and safely direct the 12,000 participants in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. If you’d like to volunteer to help at any of the race weekend events – from the Saturday Runner’s Expo to the Sunday race itself – watch for details on NWFCU’s website each spring…we’ll tell you how you can join our employee volunteer contingent. If you’d like to lend a hand on your own, visit www.cherryblossom.org for race details and volunteer opportunities.
4. Run in the Ten Mile Race
Interested in joining 10,000 participants in the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. Bookmark the official race site (www.cherryblossom.org) and be sure to visit in December when race registration opens. Since the event is usually sold out within 10 days, NWFCU reserves a limited number of guaranteed race entries, available on a first come/first served basis. Email our Cherry Blossom Liaison at CherryBlossom@nwfcufoundation.org to have a member of our staff contact you when race entry forms become available.
